On May 1, 2025, Thailand will introduce a new digital entry form (TM6) for all foreign travelers. This mandatory online form replaces the paper document that was previously used, but was last suspended in 2024. The aim of the introduction is to facilitate the tracking of tourists and increase security.
Before and during the coronavirus pandemic, it was customary to fill out the TM6 entry form when traveling to Thailand. This paper document was usually distributed during the flight. After the pandemic, the Thai government introduced measures to promote tourism, which quickly led to an increase in visitor numbers. To ease the burden of immigration checks at airports, the TM6 form was temporarily suspended to simplify entry. As reported by the Bangkok Post, the entry form is now to be reintroduced in digital form in May.
TM6 Form Asks for Personal Data Before Entering Thailand
From May 1, the transitional period with relaxed entry requirements will be over and the TM6 entry form will be reintroduced. This time, however, it will no longer be in paper form, but digital. Completion of the form will be mandatory for all foreign travelers. This applies regardless of whether you are entering Thailand by air, sea, or land. Personal data that is requested on the form includes the flight number and information on the length of stay and place of residence.
With the digital entry form TM6, the aim is to keep a better eye on tourists in Thailand in the future and to build greater trust in the country’s security. There is also speculation about further measures, but there are no concrete details yet. It could take some time for the digital TM6 system to function smoothly anyway. In January, there will be a meeting with all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, airlines, hotels, and travel agencies, to familiarize them with the process.

Introduction of Tourism Fee Is Likely To Be Postponed
Mongkon Wimonrat, the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, said the government is prioritizing the TM6 digital entry form to avoid potential confusion among tourists before introducing more types of entry checks. An anonymous source from the ministry told the Bangkok Post that the introduction of the TM6 online form increases the likelihood that the planned tourism fee of 300 baht (about 8.50 euros) will be postponed. However, there is no official confirmation of this from the government.
