Waking up and looking straight onto the beach, not having to put on sandals because your feet are walking on sand anyway, and hearing the waves crashing in the evening – there’s no question about it: a vacation right on the beach is simply heavenly. But which beach resorts are actually the best in the world? The readers of Condé Nast Traveler have voted. And here is the result.
It couldn’t start any better. In 2012, the Mulia opened on the coast of Nusa Dua in Bali – and was promptly voted one of the world’s best new hotels. The US version of Condé Nast Traveler put the newcomer to hotel star heaven on its Hot List 2013.
Numerous awards were added in the following months – the Mulia can now even claim to be the best beach resort in the world. Certainly, this is the result of the Readers’ Choice Awards 2014. In the same survey, the hotel also came third in the Top 100 hotels and resorts in the world.

What does Mulia offer?
But what’s the story behind the hotel in Bali, or rather, what’s inside? First of all: three hotels at once. All in all, the Mulia has 111 suites (all with a jacuzzi on the terrace), the Mulia Resort has 526 guest rooms and suites, and the Mulia Villas have 108 villas, just a few steps away from the white sandy beach.

In addition to numerous restaurants and bars, there are centuries-old Hindu temples and groups of dancers who suddenly and seemingly spontaneously appear out of nowhere, as the Condé Nast Traveler writes. “More like a mini-city or a stranded cruise ship,” say the magazine’s readers, praising the fresh design and excellent service in particular.
Incidentally, the hotel now offers a “gourmet escape” for lovers of fine cuisine. The all-inclusive package is available from USD 1,820 for two people and includes four nights in a room with a sea view, a dinner in the resort’s newest restaurant, Table8, as well as a USD 100 credit for the restaurants in the hotel complex. This could be used to order a Mulia cocktail, for example – and the best way to enjoy it is, of course, with a view of the sea.
